Here’s is a list of already made dog bike trailers. If you’re a K9 dog trainer or handler, you know just how much time and attention goes into training police dogs to be obedient and hard-working. Load the crate up with a dog bed or blankets and you are ready to roll! Be sure the door latch has a backup (i.e. The trailer attaches to the rear wheel of the EdgeRunner like it would to a normal bike. I then securely lashed the crate to the trailer frame in multiple places. I slid the crate in, making sure the door could be opened in the back. (Keep in mind this might vary depending on the trailer and crate you have). To get my trailer crate-ready, I removed the fabric seats, the roof fabric and the rear fabric panel, leaving the fabric on the sides and bottom. Modifying it with a crate fixed all of those issues! The fabric seat was hard for her to sit on and she was easily able to get out of the trailer all together. Have a dusty old baby trailer laying around, a dog crate and some cinch or ratchet straps? You have the ingredients for a low cost dog trailer on your hands! You will likely need to modify the trailer a little to make room for the crate so be sure this is a trailer you are ok with dedicating to being for a dog crate or cargo and you will no longer us it for hauling kiddos.įor the record: I tried hauling my pup in the baby trailer as is (not modified with a crate) on a 60 mile bike packing trip and it was difficult. If your pup is a little on the hefty side, we sure to counterbalance the weight on the other side of the bike so you won’t have to lean too much to compensate. Again, using a crate as opposed to a bin or basket would remove that concern from your ride. As with the “on the deck method”, be sure your furry friend is securely contained with blankets and a leash if you are concerned about them jumping ship. Place the bin or crate on the U-tubes, then use straps (either those attached to your slings or separate lash straps) to make sure the bin is firmly attached to the bike. If your dog is too big to fit just in the bags or you’d rather them be more contained, the U-tubes can help support a crate or plastic storage big. Try adding some blankets to make the ride more comfortable. If you only have bags (no U-tubes) and your pup is small enough, you can tote them in there. How well you can trust your mutt to not jump off the bike will help you determine the best set up. This is another super simple “use what ya got” method. Method #2: In the side bags / on the U-tubes Need space for a kiddo or gear? A half laundry basket works pretty well too! I would not recommend trying this without a Hooptie since even if you secure the basket with straps, it can still slide around. ![]() If you have a MagicCarpet on the deck, I’d recommend removing it since it can cause the crate to wobble on the deck. Using a crate would remove any worries of puppers jumping overboard but be sure to use a crate that opens from the top since the Hooptie side rails can prevent a side door from opening. I personally don’t trust my dog to not jump out so I will usually wrap her up in a blanket as well and use a leash to tie her to the basket. I like to load the bin or basket up with blankets or a dog bed to make it super cushy for my fur babe. The HDX 27 gallon Tough Tote is the black bin pictured at the beginning of this article and it is a perfect fit when the Hooptie is on the largest rail spacing. ![]() A rectangular laundry basket or storage bin fits perfectly in the Hooptie rails so just plop that baby in there and secure it to the Hooptie with straps so it doesn’t pop up or out. The Treaty allowed for a re-creation of the national façade in each member-state’s military, and loosened the up to then iron grip the Soviet Union hitherto exerted over their defense industries and armaments. De facto it changed the situation marginally – it was still the Soviet Union that commanded the ‘allied’ military forces directly from Moscow, but in theory they were now independent national military forces – if only on paper. The treaty was signed in Warsaw, Poland in May 1955, and therefore it was called the Warsaw Pact – even though it was steered solely from Moscow and served solely Moscow’s interests. ![]() One of the facets of the post-Stalinist ‘thaw’ in the Eastern Bloc was the drive towards legalization and petrification of the satellite-states dependency on the USSR, in the military terms taking shape of an alliance to counter-weigh the NATO. The Rak was a principal armament of the Polish tank crewmen. ![]() In the field, though, where obsolete tactical doctrine called for it to perform a surrealistic role of the soldier’s primary combat weapon, it was soon deemed inefficient and replaced with a folding stock AKS automatic rifle. On the other hand, it’s small size and limited level of energy allowed for creation of the compact machine pistols, like the Stechkin APS. This was reasonably accurate, and reasonably efficient at pistol distances, but way too weak to have any effect at the classical ‘front-line’ SMG fire exchange distances. Syemin, but referred to colloquially as the ‘Makarov round’ from the gun that chambered it. It was chambered for a new round, the 9×18 ‘57-M-181S’, designed by Boris V. In 1951 the Soviet military went to another extreme, adopting instead a small-sized, blowback Makarov pistol instead. The Soviet Army, having been just re-armed with it from an obsolete, 19th Century, but virtually recoilless, revolver (the M1895 Nagant) loathed the large, heavy and kicking like a mule, yet inefficient Tokarev M1933 pistol. It was even worse in it’s handgun ammunition role. At the same time, despite the awesome energetic level and penetration of this round, it was less-than-stellar terminal ballistics-wise. There was one additional problem to the East of the Iron Curtain: the wartime experience had proved beyond reasonable doubt that the 7.62 x25 Tokarev round is too powerful to have a controllable compact SMG chambered for it. It was so, because the level of technology available in 1950s did not allowed to cut down the intermediate-round assault-rifle any smaller, and the classical SMG was too large and bulky to fill the billet: something completely new was needed, and quick. More, it takes an awful load of money to train one – and so, to protect this investment, a PDW-style weapon had to be devised from the scratch. Their jobs, indispensable in the modern warfare, were much more important than wandering around in the boonies, wielding a decent rifle. A new wave of compact SMGs, or even machine pistols, were meant to be the self-protection weapons for the commanders, gunners, drivers, pilots and the like. Yet, it was this very same process of warfare modernization that brought it down to the brink of extinction, which paradoxically brought it up back again – although in a completely different guise. The re-armament of armies with automatic rifles chambered for intermediate caliber ammunition throughout the 1950s and 1960s resulted in growing marginalization of the classic pistol-caliber submachine gun. And at the time, when boxy just started to seem sexy, those classy, curving lines of the Rak pleased the eye of beholder. It was lightweight, compact, capable of serious firepower, yet could be holstered to leave the hands free for whatever job they were needed for. It was officially called the Pistolet maszynowy wzór 1963 (PM-63), but most people refer to it as the ‘Rak’ (Polish for cancer). The subject is the Polish PM-63 machine pistol… PM-63: Poland’s First PDWĪlmost twenty years before the West went PDW-crazy with advent of the micro-caliber rounds that made the concept viable at last, a machine pistol was created in Poland, showing all the features required from that seemingly so novel class of automatic weapons. Today we have another guest post, and this time Leszek has really outdone himself. ![]() ![]() ![]() You find the missing objects before the time runs out. Now this review is based on the game being free, let me make this very clear - I would not pay $5 for this game. One day I woke up and logged into Steam and there was a steaming pile of free game so thank you Steam for being cool. I'm not sure how but I got this game for free. If you're a fan of the old-school HOGs like me, you can't go wrong with this one. I bought this game directly from PopCap and completed it years ago, and when I found it here on Steam, I snapped it up again right away. The more important unlock for me is the "unlimited seek & find" mode, where you go to a location (scene) and find all the possible items as they are listed, still 10 items at a time like in the story. Given that, I'll never play it, so it's not really a "bonus" for me. Once you reach a certain level or complete the story, you unlock only one of the mini-games as a bonus to play on its own, and it's my least-liked one: the match-3 game. When you're playing the "story", at the end of each level is one of a few different types of mini-games that you have to complete in order to move on to the next level for example, swap or spin tiles to match a picture, a match-3 game, and I think a "spot the difference" one, too. My only complaint about this game is a very minor one. The background music is fitting for the atmosphere of the game, and even though it repeats, it never gets annoying and the loop isn't really noticeable. At least for an American English-speaker like myself, the words used to describe the objects are accurate. The backgrounds, and items to find, are fairly clear and sharp. It's like solitaire, but with a cluttered room.Īmong the classic HOGs, Escape Rosecliff Island shines for me for these reasons: Most "HOGs" today are really just point-and-click adventures with maybe a few hidden-object puzzles thrown in, which are fine, but sometimes I just want to mindlessly scan-and-click on a screen for a few hours. I prefer the old-school hidden-object games like this one-a bunch of scenes with lots of hidden items to find, with the bare minimum of story to tie them together. If so, buy it if it is on sale for 90 percent off. Verdict: Don't spend 5 dollars for this game unless you happen to enjoy visiting the same hidden object scenes over and over. On the plus side, the artwork is nice, with the hidden object scenes not being overly cluttered, and the items were often cleverly hidden. As much as I enjoy hidden object games, even I found myself overwhelmed with mind-numbing boredom. As you progress along, you begin to see the same hidden object scenes again. Upon completion of the puzzle games, you are rewarded an item to assist in your escape, such as a bucket or a stack of wood. The gameplay consists of you bouncing from one hidden object scene to the next, and as you finish a "level," you complete a simple "puzzle" game such as a word search or matching tiles. There is no dialogue with NPCs, no narration, nothing. There is no explanation as to who the previous resident(s) of the island were, or why the island is now deserted. ![]() Not even for the price of 5 dollars.Īpparently the plot states that you have been shipwrecked on Rosecliff Island, and your task is to collect items to help you escape. I wish I could recommend this game, but I can't. If you are, I definitely recommend this game. You need to be an HO fan and be in an HO mood. It's an extremely fun thing to do! No, this game is not for everyone. So afterwards, you're left with a thoroughly bare room. Just as in The Lost Tomb, you can clear each hidden object scene completely (when you find an item, the word is crossed off and another pops up in its place). ![]() One is Unlimited Match 3 and the other is Unlimited Hidden Objects. Find 50 locks in those 25 areas and you open up 2 Bonus Games. There are 25 scenes that you repeatedly visit but there are so many items in each, you're always looking for something different. The game is just many HO scenes with puzzles here and there (jigsaw, memory tiles, match 3, and word search). There's no scare factor - you're just searching for items that will help you leave. There's no story other than "escape the island". I wouldn't say there's anything remarkable about the game. I didn't REALLY need to buy it on Steam but I wanted it with my "steam HO set" and also wanted an excuse to play it again. ![]() Such is Escape Rosecliff Island but I prefer this game over all the rest. Actually, there are quite a few Popcap games that are pretty much just pure HO scenes with little to no story. This game has a lot in common with the other I just reviewed, Amazing Adventures: The Lost Tomb. ![]() ![]() ![]() So for most situations, I teach my students they can ignore the LNAV/VNAV minimums with their WAAS GPS when the approach has LPV minimums available. There are a few RNAV procedures with LNAV/VNAV minimums that are outside of the WAAS service volume that provides adequate vertical guidance, example in Puerto Rico, and the chart has a note that “WAAS VNAV NA”. So a LPV annunciation will never downgrade to L/VNAV, but may downgrade to LNAV. In this case, as long as the WAAS GPS annunciates L/VNAV, the LNAV/VNAV may be flown to its DA.Īll downgrades are from the most accurate APV service to LNAV without any vertical guidance. In some cases, there are RNAV approaches that do not have an LPV option, but do have a LNAV/VNAV option. In most cases, the LPV will offer the best minimums. If the WAAS GPS annunciates LPV, any of the charted minimums are permitted to be flown, including LPV, LNAV/VNAV, or LNAV, as it is the pilot option. An LNAV annunciation does not provide approval to fly the LNAV/VNAV. In order to use a WAAS GPS to fly the LNAV/VNAV DA minimums, one of these annunciations is required: LPV or L/VNAV. When using WAAS for the vertical guidance, the temperature limits do not apply as the WAAS GS is unaffected by temperature. However, the WAAS GPS TSO permits using a WAAS GPS for vertical guidance on LNAV/VNAV procedures, so they may be flown to the LNAV/VNAV DA using WAAS. Although the G1000 is capable of Baro-VNAV, it is not implemented for approach guidance except on a very few aircraft (example King Air). Since MSL altitude is also a function of temperature, these systems will have limits for both cold and hot temperatures.Īll that said, most GA aircraft don’t have a Baro-VNAV system. With a Baro-VNAV system, WAAS is not required. A GS is computed by this equipment to provide the vertical guidance. The system derives the altitude from the barometric pressure and uses GPS to determine the lateral path. This type of system derives its glidepath by a barometric pressure sensor. LNAV/VNAV APV procedures are designed to be used by aircraft equipped with a Baro-VNAV system. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We take the approach of first printing in standard black resin and performing preliminary tests with that part, then we move to the tough resin. You can avoid this by manually cutting the shorter supports or supports on delicate portions of part prior to using the bandsaw. Conversely, when they are an inch or less, the force of the moving bandsaw blade often breaks them off the part, but this can pit the part surface. I have found (while cutting off the raft) that when the supports are an inch or more in length, they generally stay in place on the part and have to be manually removed (but this is now much quicker and easier without the raft). You can cut off the raft and then work through other areas of the supports. I agree on the post processing and support removal, its really a chore that I dislike as well, but the power bandsaw makes it somewhat easier. I lower the density and then manually reposition or add supports where I think they look empty. I reduce both the density and point size prior to printing. It works great for parts off the Form 3, but parts from the Form 3L may require a larger model where the part can fit into the band cutting area. There may be no better solution, but I thought I give it one more try by being more explicit.Īny bright ideas, other than “don’t do that”? Thanks in advance. All my time is going to be spent in either removing supports in the print, or playing with alternatives. I’m never going to get the production I need. With 48 hour printing times, the trial and error of manual placement isn’t practical, since I’m only making a few of each model. ![]() I’ve been looking at the suggested alternative software, but they make support generation into a career. Slope and density and touch point size are at a minimum It would be ideal if I could simplify part of the lattice, eliminating some cross linking, leaving out the cross bracing (in part). But the choice is either too few touchpoints, or a lattice that is so dense it becomes a solid. The autogenerate in Preform prints successfully, and is quick (sort of) to generate the supports. Not all get one, and this works, but there are still a bazillion points, which generate a highly complex lattice underneath. To try and be clear, I need a lot of touch points, since the model is a bird with feathers, and each tip wants a touch point. Meaning a hack saw, metal shears, and needle nose pliers sort of a chore. This makes removing the structure a chore. The problem I face is that the underlying structure becomes too dense when I apply the right number of touchpoints. I’ve had success by cranking down the density, slope and touchpoint size to the minimum. ![]() |
